Clever Door Design Makes A Room Multi Use

Clever design not only enhances the look of spaces, but allows the area to be flexible for a multitude of uses. The architect for this new daycare drew on their design experience, ensuring this busy area could easily facilitate different uses throughout the day.

A set of multi use, interior doors were included in the design specifications for the under 2’s area. When it comes time for the toddlers’ afternoon sleep, the puzzle area next to the magic tree is transformed into an enclosed sleeping area. Triple door panels (from the HomePlus 350 Series range), are rolled in from behind nearby partition walls and anchored in place with drop bolts fitted to each door.

Transparent toughened safety glass infill was chosen for the middle section of the door, for easy viewing. Laminated ‘Dawn Grey’ Melteca infills were fitted to the top and bottom sections and mid rails finished in a natural (satin) anodised finish matching the door frames separate the three sections.  The bottom guide tracks fit snugly against the floor so there is nothing for little feet to trip over.

The daycare owner is thrilled with the doors installed by HomePlus Canterbury which have been tested on a daily basis and come through with flying colours. You can find out more about these and other doors here.

Note: The tree in the picture is made by Weta Studios and is very realistic!
