How To Organise Wardrobe Space

7 July 2015 by Default Admin

A well organised wardrobe is the ultimate time saver when you are rushing to get dressed, as clothes and accessories are not only clearly visible but also easy to retrieve.  An added bonus is wearing more of your favourite clothes, as they are no longer hidden away in an unorganised wardrobe.

The first step towards an organised wardrobe is to have a clean out, get rid of anything you haven’t worn in over a year, especially clothes that don’t fit anymore.  This will leave you with the items that you want to store and help you to figure out the best type of wardrobe storage for your needs.

Next organise your items into groups of similar items, then look at your groups of items, which one has the biggest pile?  This will help you to work out what type of storage you need the most of (eg drawers or shelves).  Do you need the most space for folded jerseys and jeans, or for hanging dresses and jackets?  Or do you need more drawers for smaller items?

Space is limited, so use it to the best of your ability, with some tricks from the experts.  Andrea Rapke, an expert in storage solutions, suggests “If you have the space to hang everything, then hang everything, you’ll wear more if you can see it.”  As we all know space is limited in most wardrobes, so an expert tip for more hanging storage is to combine a long and short hanging rod – for long jackets and dresses, or double short hanging rods, which allows for shirts and other shorter items to be hung on the top and bottom rod and is a great use of space.

Custom made wardrobe organisers are the best way to get storage that suits your individual needs.  Different users have different needs, such as a couple who recently purchased the HomePlus ClosetPro wardrobe organiser for their shared wardrobe.  The wife’s side of the wardrobe was designed with shelves only as she didn’t want any drawers, whereas the husband required drawers which were added to his design.  This was easily accommodated as each wardrobe organiser is custom made to the customer’s requirements.

For the ultimate in organised wardrobes you can call the experts at your local HomePlus store, who will help sort out your wardrobe once and for all.
